Goa: Festivity, relaxation and discovery

06 Jan Goa: Festivity, relaxation and discovery

In Goa, from January to March, the season is in full swing! The smallest Indian state located in the southwest of India has an atmosphere that is different from the other places in India. During your trip, you will probably stop in Mumbai (Bombay), the economic capital, and you’ll be surprised to discover the intense tourist presence which prevails in Goa.

A festive stay Goan style from Baga to Calangute

In the north of the state are the busiest beaches of the coast: Baga, Anjuna and Calangute. If you are there to have a blast, this is the place to put your suitcase down. These beaches are the Indian’s favorite. They come to party during the high season . Bars, restaurants, shops, nightclubs and water sports, no time to get bored!

Outside the “party” organized on beaches, these three amazing cities have many other party spots. At Calangute, the outdoor nightclub Cabana Club has a fabulous setting to welcome locals and vacationers. At Anjuna, Curlies is the beachside bar and restaurant that turn into a spacious dance floor at night.

Relaxation at Agonda and Palolem

Agonda charmful small seaside resort. Large and beautiful beach lined with pine trees and a turquoise lagoon, it is still uncrowded for the moment and offers a pleasant atmosphere of tranquility.

Palolem is a lovely stretch of sand  forming a crescent surrounded by palm trees. It is ideal especially for diving and boat trips where you can watch the dolphins and various islands offshore.

Culture and Spirituality: Unique Goa

You may not be aware that 30% of the Goan population are Catholics; a legacy of the Portuguese colonial era more than four centuries back. The state is dotted by pristine white colored small churches, coconut forests that contribute to the culture of the country. In Old Goa you can visit some churches, such as the Basilica of Bom Jesu classified as a World Heritage.

In the north of the state, the village of Arambol is still untouched by mass tourism. More than a hippies’ paradise and place for other spiritual followers, this village has a beautiful long stretch of beach lined with restaurants. Travelers from around the world go there to attend yoga classes.

Widespread over the goan coast the Arambol courses are renowned for their authenticity.  Not to miss the freshwater lake Vagkolam, the source of which is from the natural hot springs of the jungle of Goa. This small, secluded place provides you with a bubble of tranquility and peace. Trivia: It is well known that in India cows roam the streets freely. Well Goa is no exception to the rule and it is not unusual to see one or more cows on the beaches.

With its lush green vegetation, clear waters and fine sand , Goa is a must do when you are traveling to southern India. Ideal for relaxation and partying, this small territory would make you (almost) forget that you are in India.
